GFWC La Verne-San Dimas Woman's Club
“GFWC La Verne-San Dimas is a community service club with the Volunteer Spirit. Our membership consists of stay-at-home moms, businesswomen, and business owners.
My symbol is the Butterfly, and my motto is, “May the spirit of nature fulfil your spirits of volunteering. Every moment counts.”
During the pandemic we were not able to meet in person and realized how isolated many must feel. Although we met via ZOOM, we also felt isolated. From our homes we wrote 1,175 notes and letters to those confined to hospitals and care facilities. During the Holidays we wrote 735 cards, again to the isolated. Our members made good use of their time during COVID restrictions. We had crafters who knitted and crocket baby blankets and caps/hats for Military families and foster homes.
Our members started a “Chat at the Park” meeting, outside our regular meeting times. This is a very casual get-together, keeping social distance. We share family stories, recipes, and books we are reading along with how we are coping with the pandemic.
We have numerous projects we are working on and I’m sure you will find one that interests you. You volunteer at your own pace and pick the projects that you wish to work on. We invite you to join us, or become a member. Please contact our Membership Chairman, Marlene Carney. She is waiting to hear from you. Carney.marlene@gmail.com or email me at tamgram8@yahoo.com.
We have an amazing group of women.
